As December kicks off, the countdown to Christmas is in full swing.

And to make sure you get the best out of the festivities, Belfast Live has teamed up with Visit Belfast to let you know the very best of what's going on in our amazing city.

Every day in the run up to Christmas Day our exclusive Advent Calendar will reveal news of a fantastic event, a fabulous offer or a fascinating fact about our city to keep you fully on top of what's going on.

Wishing you a very Merry Christmas from Visit Belfast and Belfast Live!

And if you’re looking ahead to New Year, there are lots of amazing options for a fab night to see in 2017.

Check out the Midnight in Paris Variety Show at Cabaret Supper club. The £65 ticket includes a singer and pianist, performances from the Burlesque Cotton Candies and resident drag artists, fire eating and contortionsist as well as lots of audience participation. There is a bubbles reception and two course meal to enjoy too, with tables available from 6.30pm.

Or expect some fizz at the I Heart NYE event at The MAC, a good old sing-song. With dancing til late and live music in the foyer from the house band The Moonshines, it’ll be a party to remember. Tickets £17.

Pop along to Belfast Christmas Market.

It’s open from 10am to 10pm Thursday to Saturday so if you can’t make it during the day drop by after work for a browse through the hand-painted pottery, continental food, festive arts and crafts from across Europe and beyond and grab a glass of mulled wine.

The Gingerbread Mix Up kicks off at The Lyric Theatre tonight. Little monster Primrose is the apple of her daddy’s eye, but a pain in the neck for her mum.

Cast out in the forest with only her Nintendo for company, our heroine meets Pardon, a cool cat turned witch’s assistant.

Can Pardon save Primrose from the wicked witch? The show runs until January 7.
